This story takes some standard fairytale tropes (foolish father, three daughters with different approaches to problem-solving) and plays with them. The text is rather on the long side, and although the soft watercolor illustrations are lovely, certain details could be clearer, particularly in the final double-page spread of the whole extended family at the table. ( ) This book is about a dad that eats so much the buttons on his shirt pop off. His three daughters each try inventive ways to fix their fathers shirt. This is a fun read that had me chuckling all the way through. I thought this is a great book to keep the attention of the reader no matter what the age. This reminded me of my dad who constantley eats to much and has to loosen his belt. Children could come up with their own ideas to fix the fathters shirt. They could also decorate the shirt with markers. no reviews | add a review
