Review: This is a great informational book that teaches about mummies. There are pictures of real and fake artifacts and mummies. This is a great beginning readers chapter book.

Summary: This book is all about mummies and the history behind them. Each page is filled with information and pictures of how to make a mummy, people from the past, the mummies curse, and different types of mummies.

Argument: I liked reading this book and looking at the pictures. I have learned about mummies in elementary school, but this book was filled with information that I have not heard about before. I learned how Egyptians made mummies and the process that they went through.
I think the main purpose of this story is to teach children about Egyptian mummies. Children seem to enjoy books about history and interesting topics like this. ( )

An interesting book for older children. They will be surprised there are modern as well as ancient mummies.

This is an eye witness reader book. These books are catorgizes which makes it easy to choose quickly. This book, "Secrets of the Mummies", is a class four meant for 2 to 4th graders. This book is meant to catch the attention of children and I believe it is an effectiive book.

I did enjoy the context of this book and found it a great jumping point for young, interested children in history.

I would reccomend this book to a class room setting as a definet book of interest.

Scientists use mummies to find out what deseases people suffered from in the past. Advances in technology have allowed people to take a better care of ancient finds. Mummies no longer need to be unwapped to be studied.
In the USA, people can pay to have their bodies frozen in liquid nitrogen. They do this in the hope that people living in the future will be able to bring them back to life.

3. Write your feelings about the book in details.

But before any could investigate further, disasters struck. It began when Carter's patron, Loar Carnarvon, was bitten on the cheek by a mosquito.......Were these deaths all coincidences or was the curse of the mummy to blame?(See p 20)

It think it caused because they just didn't have immune to deal with.

4. Write the words, phrases or sentences that impressed you most in the book and explain why they impressed you. Or you could write your questions about the book.

Thousands of tourist still line up to see the mummy of Vladimir Lenin, the Russian revolutionary leader who died in 1924(See p 46).

His body is mummified well as if he is still alive. ( )
