About the Author
Shannon Hale was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 26, 1974. She received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah and a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Montana. Her first book, The Goose Girl, was published in 2003. She writes for both adults and show more young adults. Her adult books include Austenland, Midnight in Austenland, and The Actor and the Housewife. Her young adult books include Book of a Thousand Days, Princess Academy, Palace of Stone, and the Ever after High series. Rapunzel's Revenge by Shannon Hale
I'm not a big fan of Western style stories, but I like Rapunzel and I thought this was good. It's a very stylized take on the Rapunzel story with an interesting world and an anti-capitalist message? That being said... I don't know it just didn't speak to me in the way that some stories do. Like, it was good and I would recommend it and the romance between her and Jack (as in Jack and the Beanstalk Jack) was super cute and I thought he was a great character butttt IDK it was just fine for me for some reason. I guess I thought Rapunzel was kind of naive and didn't have as much depth as I would like. She was just kind of a good girl determined heroine and I wanted more from her. She just didn't really have any flaws.… (more)
Really? A successful, grown-arse 30-something woman is obsessed with Colin Firth's Mr Darcy? Haven't we already read this?
This book follows Jack, from Jack in the beanstalk, through a different story of the bean stalk and giant. This book is full of adventure, but also teaches the lesson of love, through Jack's mother loving him no matter how many times he messed up. I think this would be a good book for younger grade school kids as it is easy to read and exciting to keep their attention.
This book is good for 1st graders. The book is about a princess and it is a very fun and colorful book. I would not have this in my future classroom because I did not really like the story and I could find a better book about a princess that is fitted for every student.
