I’m a farmer’s kid but unfortunately, after way too many years away from the farm, I have forgotten a lot of the ways of farming properly. This book is right on track to help anyone from a household plant enthusiast to a full-fledged gardener to plant properly and use companion planting the way nature intended! Reading this book brought back sooooooo many memories and added a few that I didn’t know and will put to good use! This is definitely a book for my reference shelf!! ( )This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. "Companion Planting for Beginners" is a gem for new gardeners looking to level up their gardening game. This book is like having a knowledgeable friend by your side, guiding you through the wonderful world of companion planting. It's easy to read, easy to follow, and packed with practical tips that are explained in a clear and engaging way.Personally, I found this book to be a game-changer. I learned so much, and it was all laid out in a way that just made sense. It's not often you find a gardening book that's both educational and a joy to read. After finishing it, I felt inspired and ready to put my new knowledge into action in my own garden. In short, if you're eager to grow a flourishing garden while learning the art of companion planting, this book is a must-have. It's informative, fun, and will leave you feeling empowered to take your gardening skills to the next level. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I won this through the LT Early Reviewer's program. This book avoids most of the pitfalls of gardening books (too much introductory information) and gets right down to explaining which plants can be companion planted (via simple to use charts). The text also collates potential planting combinations for pest control/pollination and even discusses allelopathy, which was refreshing in a gardening text. None of the information presented in the text appears to be particularly novel, but this book collects info that I've seen spread across multiple books. Excited to apply some of this in my own garden this year! This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I am not a gardener but I thought perhaps this short book could give me some inspiration. Some of it is useful information such as the charts of what crops go together. I agree I would need a plan but where do I start? What equipment would I need? There wasn’t a list.Things I do in my existing garden however makes sense: using mulch, irrigating, using fertilizer, pest control, and controlling weeds. I wish there were more photos or graphics so I wouldn’t have to google what some of the good and bad insects look like. It helps to visualize plants in general. I also wish there was a better understanding of temperatures for plants. Which ones can take the hot sun? I like the idea which was proposed of using containers to start. I think this is a great idea and I’ll try to study this subject more before I get started. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book is full of all kinds of wonderful information. The charts are straightforward and easy to use. I can see myself using this book for years to come. It's also given me some ideas for additional plants which I would not normally considered. I would recommend this book for anyone wishing a bit of fresh produce or a splash of color either in your yard or on the deck. no reviews | add a review
