This is a lovely story about one extraordinary teacher told from the perspective of a few of his classmates. Mr. Terupt is a great teacher although he may have given a little too much responsibility to his students and not stepped in when he should've. Although to be honest part of what made him so special was that he allowed his students to become more independent. The kids in his class were awesome!. The dynamics between the kids was awesome. There is Peter the jokester, Lexie the drama queen, Luke the smart kid, Anna the shy quiet girl, Jessica the nice new girl and other characters as well. I really appreciate the incorporation of special need kids in this book which in my opinion is very well done. I read this book as a kid and rereading it was such a nostalgic experience.
I Highly recommend this wonderful book to upper elementary kids, kids in middle school and even older readers looking for a good middle-grade book ( )

It's the start of fifth grade for seven kids at Snow Hill School. There's Jessica, the new girl, smart and perceptive, who's having a hard time fitting in; Alexia, a bully, your friend one second, your enemy the next; Peter, class prankster and troublemaker; Luke, the brain; Danielle, who never stands up for herself; shy Anna, whose home situation makes her an outcast; and Jeffrey, who hates school.Only Mr. Terupt, their new and energetic teacher, seems to know how to deal with them all. He makes the classroom a fun place, even if he doesn't let them get away with much until the snowy winter day when an accident changes everything-and everyone.

*****OH MY GOSH!!! THIS BOOK WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I think it might have changed how i think.......*****
This book is about a class who gets a newbie teacher~Mr. Terupt. Mr. T is different than most teachers. He gives the students more responsibility than most and rarely yells..... The book is told by 7 kids in the class and what they think and fell towards Mr. Terupt. It is a really good book and it teaches life lessons like friendship and how to deal with your problems, bullying and more.....please read it! ( )

Sweet story -- ages 9/10 and up due to content. Told from multiple 5th graders' perspectives, it centers on a special teacher, his far-reaching impact and one potentially tragic incident. Lots to discuss and analyze. Read it for kids' book club. Adults will need Kleenex. ( )
