I found this book to be very engaging. This is a better book about a grandparent dying than Grandpa’s stories. It’s sweet how it shows the relationship between a grandfather and his grandchildren. When a dead butterfly was found, their grandfather teaches his grandchildren about butterflies and its life cycle. Soon after their grandfather died, the life cycle of the butterfly’s eggs came to life. I thought the butterfly symbolized their grandfather looking out for them. I’d use this book to talk to my students about a grandparent’s death. ( )

I'm sure some little kid out there related to this book and it helped him/her be at peace with death and learn about a person's legacy, but I'm not that kid. I thought that "Remember the Butterflies" lacked feeling and emotion. The story line had potential, but it fell short and was boring. ( )

This book is about a grandpa telling his grand kids about death, and he explains it with a death butterfly that they found. When the grandpa dies, the girls remember what he told them about the circle of life, and they decided to take care of their grandpa's garden.
