Sam is excited about the fake fangs he traded for at nursery school, but his mother won't let him to wear them in the house. So Sam packs a bag to take with him to Alaska, but first has to say goodbye to his neighbors. It's a cute running away story that made me smile. ( ) This story captured my attention from the first word. When I started reading it I was unable to put it down. I ended up reading the book from beginning to end in one sitting. Through the use of his words Lois Lowry was able to make the story come alive in my mind. Through his story I was able to make connections with my own childhood which brought back many fond memories. Sam decides to run away to Alaska because his mother won't let him wear plastic fangs in the house. Everyone in the neighborhood conspires to change his mind. I don't know why, but this book wasn't as fun as the previous books about Sam. He seemed less like a precocious genius and more like an ordinary little boy. I suppose as Sam grows up, he'll continue to be even less remarkable. no reviews | add a review
