Three Days is about an eleven year old girl named Jackie who is in Italy with her dad on vacation, when all of a sudden as they are driving her dad dies of a heart attack. She is on the side of the road trying to get someones attention, when two men pull up and she gets in their car. She soon realizes they aren't going to get help and she finds herself in trouble. They arrive at a house in the countryside and inside awaits a mother who is thrilled to see Jackie, none of the three people speak English and Jackie is wondering what they want with her. This is a haunting thriller as Jackie fights to escape and figure out the truth. 5th grade and up. ( )

Booktalk: (from jacket) "What if you and your father were driving late at night in a foreign country and he collapsed at the wheel? What if no one stopped as you frantically tried to flag down help? Then...what if two men picked you up but instead of going to the police, they kept on driving?" SPOILER ALERT: Jackie's kidnappers take her to an Italian village home where she is treated well, fed, and given her own room. It is never clear why her captors took her, only that Jackie surmises from the photos of a little girls in one bedroom that the girl died and Jackie was taken to replace her. Somewhat farfetched ending and narrative gets a little sentimental as Jackie warms to the female captor.
