Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, and Brothers is a collection of family poems. I love that all the poems represent members of a family. This books is diverse because it shows different family types and races. There are poems about being an only child, being adopted, being a step sibling, having divorced parents, and having big and small families. The poems are told in the point of view of a child. A child could find at least one poem in the book to relate too. All the poems in the book rhyme. I loved every single poem in the book because it reminds me of my family. All families are different and this book showcases that. ( )

This is probably my all time favorite book. I had no idea it was reprinted. I have had this book since I was 5 years old. I love the sense of family and its importance it provides.

This is an amazing poem book about family and the many diverse family structures. There are poems about cousins, grandparents, step, half & adopted siblings. All kinds of family! This book is a great asset to every classroom, can be used in a Pre-k to grade school classroom. Younger children can draw pictures of their families, older age children can add or make their own poems and illustrations. It will allow all children to be proud of their own families. The author was named Children's Poet Laureate by the National Poetry Foundation. ( )
