Speaking just for myself, I didn't enjoy this as much as I wanted to. I guess I couldn't suspend disbelief enough. But it's a charmer and sure to enjoyed by many folks who love funny stories of spunky girls who follow their dreams. ( )

This fictional story is about a girl, Hannah Mae, who was born to be a cowgirl and live in the Wild West. There is one problem, Hannah Mae lives in the city. Her parents recgonize that Hannah longs to be a cowgirl, so they get her a pony named Sassafras. Sassafras and Hannah Mae instantly hit it off. They begin to practice for the rodeo. Hannah Mae and Sassafras round up hamsters. Hannah Mae is sent to stay at her Uncle Coot's ranch, where she and Sassafras save everyone from hamsters.
The author does and wonderful job both writing and illustrating this book. The story of Hannah Mae is based off the author's own personal fascination and imagination of the Wild West. ( )
