African-American third graders Nikki and Deja are next-door neighbors on Fulton Street, and best friends. When a new girl moves in across the street, they're excited - but "stupid Antonia" rolls her eyes at them and acts stuck-up. Naturally she's in their class at school too, where she tries to drive them apart by starting a club to rival Deja's drill team club (which Nikki leaves, because she's no good at drilling). A story of best-friendship broken and healed, with the promise of more in the series. ( )

This book was a really simple, straight-foward book for children to read. It had a good message that children can learn from. I also noticed that its a series, so if a child is like how i was when i was young, then they'll enjoy the fact that the story continues. ( )
