Badger became bored with the same old foods he had been eating; however, the tasty animals that live near his den weren't so eager to become Badger's main meal.

Badger’s Fancy Meal is a Modern Fantasy tale of a badger that tires of eating the same old food. He ventures out of his hole to find something more appealing for dinner and encounters a mole, a mouse & a rabbit. The badger tries to catch each animal for dinner, but he’s never quick enough, and the animals escape into a nearby hole. In the end, the badger returns to his hole, only to find that his prey has eaten all his food.

The illustrations made this book very enjoyable to read. Though the badger didn’t know what was going on back in his hole, the reader is given a sneak peak in a very clever way.

This book could be used in the classroom to illustrate the importance of not taking things we have for granted. Badger assumed he could get something better, and he ended up with nothing. I would also use this book to complement a unit on woodland animals. ( )
