This books has well developed language specific to the context, an easy flowing story line and beautiful illustrations. The author begins the story focusing on the main character Elliot's love for trucks, as the story progresses the reader is exposed to new academic language specific to trucks. Bulldozer, cherry picker, flatbed and gasoline tanker, are all part of a vocabulary specific to trucks that young readers can learn as they read this story. Along side the new vocabulary are the illustrations that help clarify the story, as the author goes into detail about how Elliot spend his days the illustrations cleverly display his actions and the setting. A well developed connection that i enjoy seeing between the illustrations and the written text. The plot comes full circle when Elliot gets to ride with his favorite driver, Slim, on his birthday. Filled with joy Elliot is now a trucker. ( ) no reviews | add a review
