This is a super funny book that could be a great icebreaker on the first day of Kindergarten. It is the dinosaur's first day of school and he is struggling not to eat his classmates. He learns that it is not kind to eat his classmates and how to use self-control. This book would be a great addition to the classroom library or work well in a SEL lesson on kindness and interacting with the class. This could even be a fun way to transition the class into making rules on the first day of school!

Oh this book is hilarious. Almost more for adults than children. Ryan T. Higgins is a master. I adore his Bruce books and this standalone book is AWESOME.

It's the story of Penelope Rex and her first day of school. But she has a problem. She wants to eat her classmates!! And that doesn't have the greatest results in class.

I really don't want to give more of a review because I do not want to spoil it. Seriously, go read it! Because there is someone who wants to eat Penelope....after all....dinosaurs are delicious! ( )

Penelope Rex, a little dinosaur, prepared for her first day of school. She was nervous, like every young kid. Her mom got her new bag while her dad packed her lunch. She finally arrived at the classroom and was surprised that all her classmates were children. Excited, Penelope ate all those delicious children. But Mrs. Noodleman, her teacher, told her that we don’t eat our classmates and asked her to spit them. So Penelope spits them all out but loses a chance to make friends in the class. Frustrated, Penelope went home and told her dad that she couldn’t make friends. So, did dad help? Did Penelope make friends?

We picked this book for its funny title. The witty story with colorful illustrations can help children understand the aspects of sharing and caring for their classmates to make friends in their new school.

We Don’t Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins is a comical story with a subtle message on behavior for young children. ( )
