Opening Night is a nice story about a young girl's experience at her dance recital. I love how Rachel Isadora uses small details to make you feel like you are experiencing Heather's evening. For example, she notes the sounds that she hears from the loudspeaker and points out what the stagehands are doing behind the scenes. It just makes you feel like she is noticing these things to distract some of her nerves before going out on the stage. Her illustrations are very elegant just like a ballerina would be. ( )

This book was so cute to me , it really brought me back to my ballet days. Heather's excitement and nervousness is very relatable. Anybody interested in performing on stage would probably enjoy this book. Seasoned performers would like the nostalgia of the nervousness you feel at your first performance. First time performers may find themselves in Heather's shoes so this book could give them hope for their performance. ( )

This story was super cute. I was able to connect and relate to it because I was a dancer and performed in many numbers myself. Throughout my time reading, I remember saying "Ahh I remember this." Most of those things are things only dancers/performers would remember or know about. The illustrations were very captivating and the colors she used were perfect for the tone of the story. ( )

Opening Night tells the story of Heather and her friend Libby one their opening night in a ballet. Heather looks up to one of the ballerinas, Laura. She knits her leg warmers, and leaves them for her in front of her door as an opening night gift. Heather performs her solo and does great. After the show, Laura thanks Heather for the leg warmers and promises to wear them for good luck. Heather leaves the ballet feeling great.
Through Isadora's descriptions and illustrations i was able to truly understand and visualize what opening night was like for heather. As someone who only danced for a year when I was very young, I do not remember much. However the detailed wording and illustrations framed on every page helped me to understand the story clearly. ( )

Opening Night is a great book about two little girls who are anxiously waiting to perform in their ballet show. One of the little girls, Heather, makes leg warmers for her favorite ballerina, Laura. After the show, Laura thanks Heather for the leg warmers. Through Laura's actions, we see how important positive role models are for young children. ( )
