A delightful collection of poetry, filled with lighthearted lines about ants, crickets, spiders, dragonflies etc. Each poem is accompanied by surprising facts about the interesting insects. The pages are filled with bright illustrations using collage and mixed media. Sure to win over anyone reluctant to dive into poetry. ( ) A selection of poems about different bugs. --- This is a lovely little poem book for young readers. My favorite part of this poem book is how the structure of the poem seem to resemble the insect it is talking about. This is very visually appealing when reading the poems. However, even though I realize that not all poems rhyme, I feel like I am always let down when I come across poems that do not rhyme. This book could have been so much cuter if the poems rhymed or had a sing-song feel that children could learn to repeat Cricket in the Thicket: Poems about Bugs Author: Carol Murray Illustrator: Melissa Sweet Copyright 2017 Henry Holt and Company This poetry book is suitable for grades 3-5 Genre: Fiction - bugs - poetry no reviews | add a review
