This book tells the biographies of three children's authors: Margaret Brown, Frank Baum, and E.B. (Andy) White. Although ti is small, it captures the perfect and most interesting details of their lives working through children's books. Great read to introduce children to biographies. ( )

I was charmed and touched by this sweet and simple biography of Margaret Wise Brown, L. Frank Baum, and E.B. White. Aimed at the pre-teen set, in my opinion it hits its target squarely. Recommended. ( )

Sweet, short, easy to read biographies of 3 favorite authors, black and white photos, not very deep info. ( )

(non fiction, young adult) I truly enjoyed this book that focused on three of my personal favorite authors from my childhood. Being that these authors were from my childhood, I guiltily admit that I had never read biographies on them. I had no reason to in my adulthood because I didn't read their stories anymore! After reading this trilogy of biographies, I am intrigued enough to revisit some of my childhood favorites through older eyes. This book gives the reader a fast yet thorough and entertaining overview of Margaret Wise Brown, Frank Baum and Andy (EB) White. The pages are peppered with interesting sepia type photographs. The stories include many intriguing tidbit type facts that if one had been reading a more intensive biography would take many chapters to come across! Reading this book was like having dessert first. A good classroom activity, particularly in an older class, would be to either invite further exploration of one of the three authors or to assign one of the featured author's novels to be presented in a group book report. Three short biographies of very important people in the world of children's books: Margaret Wise Brown (aka Golden MacDonald!), L. Frank Baum, and E.B. White. A few black-and-white photographs of these writers and where they lived and an introductory quote from their books add to this small gem of a book. ( )
