This book is about the ocean but it tells it as if the ocean were talking. This is a great book that is not packed with words on each page and it is from a different perspective.
USE: I would use this is a lesson about the ocean or in a lesson about different types of bodies of water ( )

This book is written as if the ocean was speaking. It takes us on a journey of what happens in the ocean and where it goes. It talks about what continents it touches and how far it stretches. ( )

Genre: realistic fiction (?)
Summary: The story is written as if the ocean itself is narrating, but it is otherwise strictly informational. It talks about what the ocean is, what is in the ocean, and things a child might experience about the ocean.

This book is an interesting contemporary realistic fiction book because it informs students about characteristics of the Atlantic Ocean in a way that they can relate and understand. The illustrations allow the reader to engage and connect with the text.

Book description
Brian Karas gives the Atlantic Ocean a voice in this dreamy book. Some facts are included -- this book would be a reasonable jumping-off point for an elementary study of the world's oceans -- and there is a strong overtone of a child's experience of the ocean. ("That salty smell is me too.") An afterword brings in a conservationist message, and expressive paintings convey the expansiveness of the sea.
