He took her advice and did become President, stopping on his way to the Inauguration to thank her. Grace thought he was a kind man who would make a good president. What an insightful young girl. I would recommend this book for a classroom. It offers information that could be used on a report about Mr. Lincoln, and how he got his whiskers. The book was about a little girl, Grace, who wrote a letter to Mr. Lincoln asking him to grow his facial hair. The president then grew his facial hair upon her request. This book tells the story of Grace Bedell, the young girl who famously suggested that Abraham Lincoln grow a beard. As evidenced by later portraits and pictures, Lincoln took her advice. Despite being a sweet story, there's not really any information about Lincoln, other than he was elected President and that he opposed slavery. no reviews | add a review
