A reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of dwarves to reclaim their mountain home, and the gold within it from the dragon Smaug.
Rated PG-13 for extended sequences of intense fantasy action violence, and frightening images

Dwarves and a hobbit go on a trip.

Steaming pile of disappointment. The only thing at all enjoyable is the Gollum scene. Otherwise, it feels like watching someone play a video game based on a Hobbit movie.

I watched almost an hour of it on tv -- it was pretty bad. The LotR films had their problems, but they were mostly reasonable interpretations of the books, kinda-sorta. This, however, was dreck. Sort of a fan-fiction sub-D&D action film graphic novel come to life. Dwarves yelling "Go! go! Go!" like they were a SWAT team; Radagast discovering penicillin; the elves pumping Enya into Rivendell....shudder... ( )
