The man who counted is a book that shows a mans adventure to bring the wonders of mathematics to the public. I like who this book shows how math can be exciting to find and I think this is a great message to bring to the middle school class. Showing students that it is okay to think math is exciting is very important, as well as showing them how math is found everywhere besides the classroom.
The book The Man Who Counted is a collection of various mathematical adventures. Beremiz Samir, takes the reader on a very many adventures where he has to use his mathematical powers to continue his journey. He uses his powers to settle disputes, overcome dangerous situations, give advice, and to win fame, fortune, and rewards. This is a good book to read in your intended math class as it can show students that math can be fun and exciting.
Siamo circa nel 1200 d.C e Hanak Tade Maia incontra sul suo destino Beremiz Samir, un semplice viandante che si dimostrerà una persona di una intelligenza matematica eccezionale. I due percorrono la strada che li porta a Baghdad incontrando persone che pongono continuamente quesiti al matematico fino alle 7 prove finali che gli permetteranno, se risponderà correttamente a tutto, di conquistare un premio molto ambito.
Così, grazie a Beremir, scopriamo che ci sono dei numeri speciali, dei numeri che si vogliono più bene di altri, dei numeri che contengono in se stessi tutti gli altri, delle operazioni che rappresentano la perfezione matematica, estetica e stilistica.
Il viaggio è bellissimo, a volte difficile da capire, a volte semplice e immediato e le soluzioni ai quesiti matematici possono diventare anche simpatici giochi tra amici.
Bellissimo questo libro, se l'avessi letto al liceo magari avrei amato un po' di più la matematica (che oggi adoro)!
Per esempio voi lo sapevate che, escluso il numero 1, 8 e 27 sono gli unici numeri uguali alla somma delle cifre dei loro cubi?
