Who doesn't love a gift from Saks! What a surprise to find a book that supplied the backstory to the inspiration for the Fifth Avenue windows, Auntie Claus".Having seen the windows earlier in the month, the book was a joy to recall my visit. I love that store.

The blurbs on the back of the book sum it up pretty well:
"Utterly charming!" ([a:Sara Pennypacker|92198|Sara Pennypacker|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1309165313p2/92198.jpg]) and "Mary Poppins, Mrs. Piggle Wiggle... now Ms. Rapscott joins the league of lovable, magical instructors, and she's every bit as wonderful as her predecessors." ([a:Kiki Thorpe|106969|Kiki Thorpe|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1383570243p2/106969.jpg])

It's a little bit adventurous, a little bit magical, and very adorable. The illustrations are by far my favorite part of the book. The book begins and ends with multi-page illustration sequences, which is an unexpected and lovely addition to a middle-grade novel.

Note: I received an ARC from the publisher.

I had high hopes for this one, considering it's fun concept. The illustrations are whimsical and well-done, but the story falls short -- it almost feels incomplete, as if parts have been skipped over. Overall, I was disappointed with it.
