Moon is a boy that has been raised and living his entire life in the forest with his paps. Now Paps is dead and Moon is lonely. In this story, Moon goes through lots of struggles with the law, loneliness, and discovering the world outside the forest. This book will draw readers in with Moon's unique view of the world. Alabama Moon does have some mature themes within it. It is best for high school students.

CW: parents die in car crash, hunting and eating kill scenes

Well it was a quick read and will be good for NZ Y8 and Y9 adventure lovers and people interested in hunting mythological creatures.

I'm not any of the above but I can see that this conspiracy-theory, action-survival story will appeal to less experienced readers looking for an engaging but not challenging book. Just okay for me.

Julie's dad has a scuba shop, and she is used to helping him out. But when they arrive at the site of their most important dive with their highest paying clients, her dad suddenly feels too unwell to take the clients down. Julie goes in his place, but these difficult clients get too far away from her too fast for her to warn them when something unexpectedly goes wrong. Things get extreme very quickly in this fast-paced, intense survival story.

A truly gripping book that combines coming of age with outdoor survival. MG rather than YA, but one that more or less crosses over between the too. I love this novel.
