About the Author
Since 1994, John Goldsby has been a member of the WDR-Cologne Radio Big Band. From 1980-94, John was an active fixture in the New York City jazz scene, performing everywhere from the Greenwich Village nightclubs to Carnegie Hall, as well as on concert stages around the world. He is involved in the show more jazz world as a bassist, bandleader, composer, teacher, clinician, and author. His recordings as a leader include 2001's Viewpoint [Nagel Heyer] and 1994's Tale of the Fingers [Concord]. Goldsby has written two instructional method books, Since 1990 John has written for Bass Player magazine with his columns The Tradition, Mastering Jazz, and Jazz Concepts.
