Excellent cartoons but the news stories being referenced are before my time so much of the humor is lost upon me.

There was a time when no Christmas was complete without the Giles Annual: this prolific cartoonist was an institution almost up to his death in 1995.



Is there a place today for another Giles annual? Does he have any relevance in today’s world? Or will this selection of his 150 ‘most humorous and perceptive illustrations’ be enjoyed only by those who remember them when they first appeared, back in the last Millennium?



The space race, smoking in hospital beds, and the sheer awfulness of foreigners – it’s all here for the next generation to enjoy and given the gentle wit of Giles’ humour combined with his mastery of line and expression, enjoy it they surely will.… (more)
