I love reading books about people who work the land for a living -- particularly those who have forsaken city life for a "taste of the way life used to be." I'm not sure why I have the fascination as I'm pretty sure this type of life wouldn't suit me at all! Yes, I love raising my chickens, but my basil plants are already dead this year due to lack of attention, and I don't even pretend to plant a garden any more.

Yay! I liked this book a lot. Fun, interesting, and well written.

A longer review will be posted on C-Spot Reviews after the book is released but it mostly says the same thing.

Thanks BSB and NetGalley!

I love this two book series (along with The Crown of Valencia) and wish there could have been even more. Well, that's not really true. There's not much more there could have been but the characters were fantastic. And the way the author handles the historical aspects and the things that Kate has to get used to is just great.
