Fictionalized account of the crossing of the Brooklyn Bridge by P. T. Barnum's circus elephants, as a show of confidence in the soundness of the Brooklyn Bridge after construction. Context of story is accurate, the main character is an invention to move the story.

A telling every bit as spunky as its heroes, it tells the story of the first African Africans to fly across the United States.

The characters in A Whole New Ballgame are complex and well-developed. Bildner has captured the wide range of personalities and emotions on display in any middle school.

Note: I received an ARC from the publisher.

Loved this book -- from the unconventional teaching style to the caring friendship between Rip and Red, to the nonstop basketball action, to the casual and realistic diversity. Funny, interesting, non-stop, heartwarming. Awesome.
